Get to Know Us
At Pacaya Coffee Roasters, coffee is not a commodity — it is a story, a relationship, and a ritual rooted in land, labor, and care.
Our coffee comes exclusively from Guatemala, a country defined by dramatic landscapes, volcanic soil, and rich microclimates that give each region its own distinct character. Guatemala is home to eight primary coffee-producing regions, each shaped by altitude, climate, and tradition. No two coffees are the same — and that is exactly what we honor.
Single-Origin, Intentionally Sourced
We specialize in single-origin coffees, sourced from organically grown farms and very small producers. These coffees are not mass-produced. They are grown slowly, harvested carefully, and roasted only after you place an order.
Coffee farming in Guatemala requires an extraordinary amount of manual labor. Cherries are picked by hand only when perfectly ripe, ensuring the highest quality cup. We buy coffee the same year it is harvested — typically during the January–February harvest season — so freshness and integrity are never compromised.
The Women Behind the Coffee
Some of the coffees we offer are grown entirely by women — a powerful shift in a field historically dominated by men.
- Huehuetenango coffee is farmed exclusively by women at high altitudes. These farms are part of a cooperative that granted land to a group of women, giving them the opportunity to cultivate, harvest, and sustain their own livelihoods.
- Cubulco is another women-farmed region we proudly support, where community and collaboration are central to the growing process.
When you choose these coffees, you are supporting independence, resilience, and generational change.
A Land Shaped by Volcanoes and Cacao
Regions like Antigua are grown in volcanic terrain, where ash-enriched soil produces complex, balanced coffees with depth and character.
Guatemala is also known for growing cacao. In some regions, coffee is cultivated alongside cacao trees, allowing the beans to naturally absorb subtle chocolate and cocoa notes. These environmental relationships create the rich, chocolate-forward profiles many of our customers love.
A Personal Relationship With Coffee
We believe everyone has a unique way of enjoying their daily cup. That’s why we roast only after receiving your order and can customize the roast to your taste. Every bag we sell carries a personal guarantee — because we stand behind what we offer.
Coffee should feel intentional. It should connect you to the hands that harvested it, the land that shaped it, and the moment you take your first sip.
Welcome to Pacaya.
